The Christkindlmarket – Holiday Tradition in Chicago
Visit to the Christkindlmarket in Chicago is one of the best things to do during holiday season. This free event is inspired by the Christkindlmarket in Nuremberg, Germany which began in 1545. Christmas market in Chicago has become Chicagoans favorite holiday tradition since it started in 1996.
The Christkindlmarket in Chicago is the place to experience German and European tradition right here in Chicago. As of today, market is held at two different Chicago locations – downtown Chicago and Wriglyville. Admission to the Christkindlmarket is free.
I ended up visiting downtown Chicago location first time, I agree, it’s kind of unique experience. This Chicago market is the place to experience German-style Christkindlmarket featuring fresh pretzels, bratwurst, hot chocolate, spiced wine, roasted nuts and Christmas ornaments
Perfect cozy atmosphere filled with Christmas music in background, visitors will have great cozy experience while strolling through shops featuring local and international vendors.
I insist, try hot wine in boot shaped souvenir mug.
The Christkindlmarket is open to the public every year from Mid November through December 24th.

It was one of the coldest day when I visited the market, 20 degree F. Sight of pigeons warming up around the fire on a coldest day was eye catchy for everyone at the market.
Overall, a visit to the Christkindlmarket in Chicago is one of the best holiday things to do in Chicago. You can easily spend couple of hours exploring shops. Perfect place to experience holiday vibes!
Christkindlmarket is held at Daley Plaza – 50 W Washington, Chicago, Illinois
