Downtown Chicago has plenty of rooms to stay, but it is very hard to find low-price budget friendly hotels in downtown Chicago. Being financial district of the Midwest, everyday there is always something going in downtown Chicago, such as conventions, events and/or shows. There is always very high demand for hotel rooms in downtown Chicago.
High demands for hotel rooms in downtown makes it more difficult for budget travelers who are looking to stay in downtown, close to all top attractions including the Millennium Park. If you are planning to visit Chicago during slow season, January through March, then chances are good to get the hotel rooms at lower price. Trust me, don’t be surprised if you find very high rates for your travel dates even during slow season. You never know, any convention or event might raise hotel room rates for that time during slow season. I recommend you to keep your travel dates flexible to avoid popular annual events to get the best hotels near Millennium Park.
Travelers planning to visit Chicago on budget must stay in nearby surrounding neighborhoods from downtown Chicago to get hotel rooms at lower price. I believe that you will need hotel room just to unwind after a long day of sightseeing, tours and activities in Chicago.
There are many hotels near Millennium Park, but hotel rates keep fluctuating throughout the year. As in general, hotel room rates ranges higher over $500 through $100 or lower, but I have tried to come up with the hotels near Millennium Park that may cost you $200 or less with parking options that can save money. Like I said earlier, current demand for the hotel rooms during your travel dates might increase hotel rate tremendously.
Travelers who are driving a car must consider additional parking fee in downtown hotels. There is not free parking in Chicago downtown, unless parking is included in hotel package offer. You will be paying average $25 to $65 per day for parking at the hotel without any discounted package offer. If hotel is not offering Park & Stay package for your travel dates, then you may consider to park at one of the public garage for your stay at lower price, but there are always pros and cons associated with parking options.
Parking at Hotel vs parking at Public Garage
- Parking at hotel cost you high price compared to public open garage
- Parking at hotel gives you in-and-out access throughout your stay in downtown Chicago
- Parking at public garage doesn’t allow multiple entries throughout your stay.
- Public garages are open, so less secured compared to hotel parking garages
If you decide to park at public garage during your stay in Chicago, then ParkWhiz is one of the best parking spot finder service that I have always used for reserving a parking spot. Millennium Park Garage is also good option for multi-day parking, I have not experienced, but I have heard different opinions and stories about overnight parking at the Millennium Park garage.
