Mars Cheese Castle, a castle off Interstate I-94 near Kenosha, Wisconsin. It’s very hard to miss the place, if you are visiting Milwaukee or Lake Geneva. Mars Cheese Castle’s history goes years back in the past! It was first opened in 1947 by Mario and Martha Ventura in schoolhouse in Kenosha. Later in 2011, due to I-94 highway expansion project, Mars Cheese Castle had to relocate further west near the same corner off I-94. I recommend you to at least stop by once during your trip. Yup, you can get your drink in plastic cup and shop around the store.
If you are hungry then order food from the kitchen and relax at the table or at the bar until your order is ready. When I went there our bar tender, Lisa, suggested their #1 sandwich called reuben, made with homemade recipe using corned beef, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut. Not to mention but the Food Network Sandwich King, Jeff Mauro, has listed Mars Cheese Castle’s grilled cheese sandwich on his top eight sandwiches in U.S. This place has been visited by famous people including Al McGuire, John F Kennedy, Johnny Cash and U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden.
