Potbelly Sandwich Restaurant Review:
Named after the potbelly stoves, the restaurant was started in 1977 as a small antique store by a young couple. In order to promote their business, the couple decided to offer sandwiches to their customers. Little did they know, that these sandwiches would soon become a favorite with most who visited the store and soon people started coming only for the sandwiches and homemade desserts. Years passed and the store grew to become a full-fledged chain of sandwich joints all over the country. It is a mistake if one visit’s Chicago and not has one of these scrumptious sandwiches.

The menu offers an assortment of sandwiches, salads, soups and sides, shakes, malts and smoothies and sweets. Made with homemade rolls, the sandwiches are stuffed with your choice of fillings that can include turkey, veggies, pizza ingredients, Italian meats etc. You can choose from any one of the interesting combinations of ingredients to make your sandwich really sumptuous and delicious. The sandwiches are served with your choice of mustard, hot peppers, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickle, oil and Italian seasoning. Among the sandwiches, it is difficult to say, which is the best, since all are equally good but if given a choice turkey breast, tuna or smoked ham with Swiss cheese are quite a popular choice. ‘A Wreck®’, is undoubtedly the signature sandwich, since it is the original sandwich made when the restaurant was only an antique store. This legendary sandwich comprises of salami, roast beef, turkey and ham with Swiss cheese and packs quite a punch with so many ingredients. Pizza sandwich with pepperoni, provolone cheese, marinara sauce, mushrooms and Italian seasoning is also the perfect sandwich if you enjoy Italian. Other interesting options that is particular to this joint is the chicken salad sandwich with provolone cheese and Italian sandwich with pepperoni, salami, provolone cheese, mortadella and capicola.
